The next sections will cover section 17 through to 19 in the manual. We’ll be talking about nail enhancements and the acrylic family, how to create durable nails with perfect structure and what the nails need to look like after you’ve done the set.

I just want to touch on the acrylic family, it is extremely important that as a nail tech we understand the chemicals that we work with on a day to day basis. All nail products are made from acrylics, which is a form of plastic, but we use different branches of the acrylic family to achieve different effects.

The acrylic family consist of three branches that we use for nails, the methacrylate, the acrylate and the cyanoacrylates. It’s important to understand which branch you’re working with especially when it comes to allergies. So generally if a client falls allergic to a specific ingredient in one of your products, they potentially could become allergic to that entire branch of the acrylic family and that is when it’s important to understand which branches you are working with, because some systems can cause a bit of an overlap and if you are not eliminating the branch that your client is allergic to you will continue to have allergic flare ups.

It’s extremely important to understand this section of your manual. So go ahead and read the sections 17 through 19 and complete the quiz to move forward.
