In this lesson we will cover all the things you need to know about Planet Vogue Extensions. In this video I will show you the difference between ABS and PMMA nail tips. I will show you how to select the right fit, tailor and customise the tips to fit your clients’ nails.

The apex gap is what makes these extensions different from the full cover party tips we all know so well from our School days. The picture shown in this video demonstrating the apex gap is shown on a client with a ski-jump nail. This makes the gap seem quite large but is a great picture for demonstrating the gap. You may find the gap is much smaller on most of your models/clients. If you were to encounter a client with a gap as demonstrated in the picture, you will most likely need to use a bit more gel to help fill the gap.

After fitment and tailoring I will move on to demonstrate etching and pre-blending the vogue tips on Hedda. We are using both a sculpted as well as a natural shape to demonstrate the difference. Remember a client with a flatter nail bed can wear either a sculpted or a natural shape (you may just find that the sculpted shape may need more gel) but a client with deeper sidewalls or a naturally high D-Curve will not be able to wear a natural shape.

Sometimes you may only have a natural shape in the desired length, but the clients nail grooves may be deeper so the tip sides sit up. In a case like this where a client has a deeper c-curve (but normal d-curve) you are able to adjust the c-curve of the tip to suit as demonstrated in the video below:

Below is a quick tip video on how to shorten pointy shapes from the back to maintain the shape:

Remember once we’ve cut a vogue tip at the cuticle area we need to thin it out to help with blending:
