In this video I will demonstrate first on a practice finger and then on a model how to prepare the nail for product application.

This will be the first time you will be using your e-file so, I would like to get you a little bit more comfortable with it especially before using it on yourself or a client- that’s where your trusty practice finger comes in.

Nail prep is covered in section 23 of the manual – you can follow along as I perform it on Hedda. I will be covering a few different options for natural nail prep so please try all of them and see which you are most comfortable with.

When it comes to using cuticle nippers to remove dead skin, please ensure you follow your local government, state and territory guidelines for skin penetration.

Below is a demo of where I used my cuticle prep bit on a slightly more challenging nail. Please note I am only showing how I use my cuticle prep bit in this video, I did not film the prep of the rest of the nail (where I went in with a sanding band in fine to remove the shine from the rest of the surface of the nail). Your cuticle prep bit is a skin safe bit and can be used to help exfoliate excess dead skin or help to lift it out of the way:
